| Purpose of Job: Oversee every stage of product development starting from research and development of the original concept to mass production while ensuring that the product arrives at the appropriate outlet on time and in sufficient quantity and quality. The Product Engineer will report to the Jarden Outdoor Solution Supervisor, based in China. Job Scope & Major Responsibilities: 1) Internal and external communications
a) Daily communication with US design team, vendors and colleagues in China to ensure program success and efficient problem solving. 2) Product development & Project management
a) Review AI design drawings with US team and communicate concepts effectively to vendors. Help vendors to understand the concepts and assist in problem solving.
b) Set up and maintain detailed development plans for all models using timelines with specific target dates to ensure samples are delivered according to schedule. Provide continuous and detailed progress reports to US Product Manager.
c) Collaborate with internal partners (Design, Category Management, etc) and external resources (agents, suppliers, mills, factories, etc.) to optimize product development life cycle.
d) Help US operation group to monitor vendor KPI's (Key Performance Indicators). Create and distribute a monthly VPR (Vendor Performance Report).
e) Continuously update product specification sheets during development and upload final approved version to the B2B platform.
f) Manage hand over process of approved products to quality team and specify critical areas for inspections. 3) Sourcing
a) Assist in vendor sourcing and evaluation.
b) Source and evaluate materials / parts of the products. 4) Cost savings
a) Analyze cost breakdowns, track and negotiate prices with vendors.
b) Work on cost reduction projects together with the US engineering group. 5) Other responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Requirements: 1 Education
- High Diploma or above 2 Experience (Minimum Relevant Experience/Minimum Supervisory Experience)
- Min. 5 years of relevant working experience
- Experience working with US Market 3 Professional Qualifications, Knowledge and skills 4 Written / Oral Language skills:
- Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) 5 Competencies
- Proficient in MS Office Application
- Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with vendors and buyers
